Some users have reported having problems with the SimCity.com website. If you are
experiencing any problems with the site, please see if your question is listed below.
Question: I can't get the Chat/Live area to work.
Answer: First, make sure you are a product registered user. Click on REGISTER at the top of this site and follow the directions to register. If you are a registered user, then make sure you follow step 5 in the browser configuration guide below.
Question: I can't download or upload building/cities/maps to the Exchange area.
Answer: First, make sure you are a registered user. Click on REGISTER at the top of this site and follow the directions to register. If you are a registered user, then make sure you follow the browser setup guide below.
Browser Configuration Guide
NOTE: We can NOT guarantee connections via the America On-Line browser.
NOTE: Your game must be installed to the default directory. C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 3000 Unlimited
1. We recommend that you use the latest version of Ineternet
Explorer 5.5 (Netscape 6.0 is NOT compatible with this site). If you would like to update your copy of
Internet Explorer you can download a copy at www.Microsoft.com.
2. Once you are in Internet Explorer click on TOOLS and
then click on INTERNET OPTIONS. Next click on the SECURITY
tab, and make sure the INTERNET globe is highlighted.
3. Click on DEFAULT LEVEL to make sure your security
settings are at default levels.
4. Next, click on CUSTOM LEVEL and
make sure the following items are set to
ENABLED
:
Download Signed ActiveX Controls
Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-Ins
Script ActiveX Controls Marked Safe For Scripting
Allow Cookies That Are Stored On Your Computer
Allow Per Session Cookies
5. If you would like to use the Chat area of the
SimCity.com site and you are experiencing problems, make sure
you have the Microsoft VM update from
windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
